NASTT's Carbon Calculator!

In order to promote trenchless technology as a "green" alternative, NASTT collaborated with a consortium of North American gas and electric utilities to develop a calibrated comparison tool between traditional open cut construction and trenchless applications.  The Phase I software component of this innovative project was completed in September 2012.  The competition and reward of the Phase II development contract for a web based user-friendly analysis tool was approved by the Board of Directors in October 2012 as a standalone NASTT initiative.  A working model is anticipated for review and testing by mid-2013.  A future Phase III contract is envisioned for the development of NASTT Good Practices training course as well as a companion publication.

The NASTT Carbon Calculator program is intended to reinforce the image of trenchless technology as a “green” alternative to traditional piping installation methods.
