Technical Manager – Pipeline Rehabilitation Design and Condition Assessment at AECOM
Charlie is a Technical Manager focusing on Pipeline Rehabilitation Design and Condition Assessment for the New England Water Business Line at AECOM in Chelmsford, MA. He has 16 years of experience working as a design engineer and project manager on a variety of trenchless projects including pipeline rehabilitation, condition assessment, risk modeling, and general asset management.
His varied design experience also includes collection systems design and peer review, wastewater treatment, water resources, and site-civil design to improve municipal infrastructure. Charles was first introduced to trenchless technologies through his involvement in multiple sanitary sewer rehabilitation projects starting early in his career. He also briefly served as a Field Engineer for a world leading CIPP construction company. This experience provided a wealth of exposure and instilled a desire to pursue and advocate for the use of trenchless technologies in projects as a way of mitigating the impacts of excavation in urbanized areas, but also as a means of cost-effective design.
Charlie’s career in trenchless rehabilitation design has also led him to author peer-reviewed publications in the industry, and even earn him national recognition at the annual NASTT No-Dig Show by being selected to receive the Trent J. Ralston Young Trenchless Achievement Award in 2018, further cementing his presence as a top industry professional.
Charlie studied Civil Engineering at the University of Massachusetts Amherst earning his B.S. and went on to receive his M.S. in Environmental Engineering from the Worcester Polytechnic Institute. He is a licensed professional engineer throughout the Northeast and Mid-Atlantic US and is also PACP/MACP certified by NASSCO.
