The winners were announced at an event held at Chicago’s Harris Theater on Thursday, October 30, with nearly 1,500 business and civic leaders attending. The Chicago Innovation Awards, celebrating its 13th year, is the Chicago region’s foremost recognition of the most innovative new products or services brought to market or to public service each year.

Exclusive and innovative features offer customers an all-purpose workhorse across multiple water management applications
[Bakersfield, California – September 24, 2014] – Attendees at the 2014 WEFTEC show will be some of the first to see the newest centrifugal pump from 
PowerPrime® Pumps — the SiteMax™ pump.
Designed from the ground up, the SiteMax pump’s patent pending features make it ideal across a wide variety of liquid handling applications. With available skid or trailer mount options, the SiteMax pump is ultra-portable and easy to maneuver through even the most difficult to reach areas. For extra flexibility on site, SiteMax features side-by-side suction intake and discharge connections.
“Between bad weather conditions and difficult terrain, our customers don’t have time for a bulky and unreliable pump,” said JP Lake, President of PowerPrime. “SiteMax can easily arrive on site and get to work quickly without hassle.”
With high-efficiency Kubota engines, SiteMax helps manage operating and labor costs. The large 88.5-gallon tank provides up to 65 hours of continuous runtime, giving customers the confidence to leave the SiteMax pump unattended and focus on other, more urgent tasks. SiteMax features a Venturi or vacuum priming system and is able to prime and re-prime in less than 20 seconds and prime on long suction lengths (more than 100 ft.).
For around-the-clock operations, the SiteMax pump boasts standard sound attenuation at 69 dB from 23 ft. and is noticeably quieter than other competing pumps. A high-density polyethylene canopy is standard and greatly reduces operating noise, making it easier to communicate on the job and is suited for sensitive areas like hospitals or residential neighborhoods. The canopy is also resistant to excessive damage and denting compared to metal, and offers added protection against vandalism and tampering.
An innovative new impeller design has an exclusive pull/push function that improves performance and efficiency. SiteMax allows for clear water efficiency combined with solids handling up to 3-inches and reduces clogging even with the most non-compressible or stringy solids. The impeller design also allows SiteMax to pull greater suction lift compared to similar models, thereby improving performance on deep dewatering or sewer bypass lifts. The pump is available in three sizes: 4, 6 and 8-inch.
Other unique features of SiteMax include its double containment fluid basin which holds up to 150% of the onboard engine fluids and fuel, and an emergency stop button on the control panel. “We believe that pump users are looking for products that help them meet increasingly stringent environmental regulations like jobsite spill prevention and safety”, said Lake.
To reduce maintenance costs and downtime, PowerPrime Pumps also designed SiteMax with greater part interchangeability and reduced number of individual spare parts; features that are important to customers with large pump fleets like Rain for Rent and rental companies worldwide.

LMK Technologies is pleased to announce the recent appointment of industry professional 
Mike Czipar. Mike has been named Vice President, Business Development.
Before coming to LMK, Mike was the President of United Pipe Renewal, Inc, an LMK T-Liner licensee based in Johnston, Iowa. For almost eight years, Mike was a successful contractor installing LMK products. Mike’s contractor experience includes sales, operations, estimating, budgeting, equipment, and new product development. Mike’s responsibilities at LMK will include working with the sales team to recruit, train and mentor new municipal contractors and crews and to support our existing contractor base. In addition, Mike will assist with identification and integration of new products and processes into LMK’s product line.
LMK is also pleased to announce the recent appointment of industry professional Jacqueline Jaques. Jacqueline has been named Western Regional Sales Manager.
Jacqueline comes to LMK Technologies with over 15 years of experience in the trenchless industry. She has practical knowledge in pipeline inspection and condition assessment, as well as pipeline rehabilitation for gravity sewers, storm drains, culverts, and pressure and potable water applications. Jacqueline has an extensive history and experience in working with manufacturers of trenchless solutions and contractors that specialize in trenchless repairs.

Phoenix, Arizona – September 2, 2014 – NPL Construction Co. (NPL), a wholly–owned 
subsidiary of Southwest Gas Corporation (Southwest), has entered into agreements to acquire the Link-Line Group of Companies (Link-Line) which includes Link-Line Contractors Ltd., W.S. Nicholls Construction Inc., W.S. Nicholls Industries Inc., and a fifty percent equity interest in W.S. Nicholls Western Construction Ltd., all Canadian-based construction companies. In a related transaction, affiliates of Southwest have reached an agreement to acquire certain assets and liabilities of Brigadier Pipelines Inc., a US-based affiliate of Link-Line. Link-Line’s current owners will retain a small ownership percentage in the combined businesses. The transactions are expected to close in October 2014.
The combination of NPL and Link-Line will create one of the largest natural gas distribution contractors in North America. The companies will be well-positioned to continue serving their existing customers, while establishing a sustainable path for continued growth both in the US and Canada.
Commenting on the pending transactions, NPL President and CEO Jim Kane said, “These pending acquisitions are an exciting part of our overall growth strategy, and Link-Line is a great strategic fit; culturally, the companies share NPL’s focus on safety, quality and customer satisfaction.” The acquisitions will result in no geographic or customer overlap. Emphasizing that the businesses will operate independently from NPL following the close, Mr. Kane confirmed, “We are not combining workforces; the same offices and the same people will be serving the same customers as they are today.”
