Design Specification

Establishes specific requirements the contractor must use, including means and methods. A design specification creates an implied warranty that if the contractor uses the specified means and methods along with industry-accepted good practices, the constructed product will meet the specification requirements.

Desktop Study

A compilation and review of available site, geotechnical, and other information pertinent to a project. Typically performed at the outset of a project, prior to field explorations and detailed design.

Dewater

The act of removing groundwater or lowering the groundwater elevation, using a system of wells and pumps.
