Oklahoma State University joined NASTT’s Student Chapters in the summer of 2016. The chapter’s mission is “To inspire students to enhance the skills and integrity of trenchless technology, develop and share industry knowledge through integrated practice, education and research.”

Oklahoma State University was founded in 1890 and started with Agricultural and Mechanical (A&M) College. There were approximately 25,962 students enrolled last 2014. OSU is classified by the Carnegie Foundation as a research university with high research activity. OSU is ranked by U.S. News & World Report No. 79 among Top Public Schools: National Universities for 2015 and 100 Best Values in Public Education.

The Construction Management Technology (CMT) program was established in 1937 as Oklahoma A&M school of technical training and CMT became ABET accredited in 1977. Since then, the department has grown and developed the construction programs which include the building sector and heavy & civil sector.

Dr. Jonghoon Kim is the faculty advisor for the new chapter at OSU. The NASTT Student Chapter will play a crucial role in activating student activities for Trenchless Technology (TT) development based on the following objectives:

  • Lead TT research-oriented environment to make students be more competitive in the part of construction industries.
  • Create undergraduate courses regarding TT and underground construction technologies.
  • Disseminate TT knowledge and experience to construction management and engineering students.
  • Extend the market of TT in the state of Oklahoma.
  • Develop the core of TT Research Center.
  • Build good networking with TT industries through NASTT and invite them as a guest speakers to share their practical and valuable knowledge & experience with students in the class.
  • Motivate outstanding students to apply for scholarship sponsored by NASTT and give them more opportunities to challenge the real-world competition.
