Jason Lueke, Ph.D., P.Eng., is the National Discipline Leader for Trenchless Technology at Associated Engineering based in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada, and has over 26 years of experience as a consulting engineer, university professor, and construction manager. He has extensive experience in the design and construction of horizontal directional drilling, microtunnelling, and cased crossings, as well as the rehabilitation of pipelines using pipe bursting and sliplining. He has also provided expert witness and opinion services on numerous cases involving directional drilling and trenchless installations, including changed ground conditions, construction method feasibility, and productivity assessments.
Jason has served on the Boards of the North American Society for Trenchless Technology, the Centre for the Advancement of Trenchless Technologies, and the Executive Committee of the American Society of Civil Engineers Pipelines Division. He currently serves on the Executive Council of the Canadian Underground Infrastructure Innovation Centre and on the Editorial Board of Trenchless Technology Magazine Canada.
For over 20 years, Jason has been a volunteer instructor for NASTT and has taught the Laterals Rehabilitation, Horizontal Directional Drilling, New Installations, and Pipe Bursting Good Practices courses. He also co-authored the second edition of NASTT’s Lateral Rehabilitation Good Practices Guidelines. Jason has published over 80 journal and conference papers related to trenchless design and construction. He is a recipient of ASCE’s John O. Bickel Award, ASCE’s Pipelines Division Award of Excellence, the inaugural NASTT Trent Ralston Award for Early Career Achievement in the field of Trenchless Technology, and was named Trenchless Technology Magazine’s 2026 Trenchless Technology Person of the Year.
